Started accutane 3 days ago. Had really bad acne since my freshman year of high school (mostly the cystic, not so many blackheads and a few whiteheads here and there) and have been using all kinds of scrubs and herbal remedies (like essential oils), to no avail. Talked to my doctor about accutane and decided to try it. Hoping it works because I am so tired of not feeling good about my skin. I know it will probably get worse before it gets better, just as long as it gets better. So far on day 3, I've noticed more dry skin around my nose and my lips are definitely more dry.

Good luck I will follow your page!! I'm currently taking low dose accutane for rosacea, not an easy drug to take but I'm trying to be patient and have faith. :)

Stay strong! I am on my second course, it did wonders the first time around, but the initial break out was not fun

For me Accutane did wonders. It was some what difficult to be so dry and flaky for 6 months. The result was that I felt so good about myself.

How long have you been off of accutane ? Did it continue to keep your skin clear?
April 6, 2016
I have been off for many years. I am 45 years old. I took it twice and now my skin is good. My children have both taken it as well and have beautiful skin.
Stay with it.I also had hair loss , but after my hair went back to normal.

Friday marks my first week on accutane and it wasn't too bad at first, but I noticed I have broken out super bad and my lips have been Super dry and cracked. My skin is also a lot more sensitive. I've had to switch toners because the one I was using would make my face super red and burn.

Gotta make sure to use lip balm. When I used normal Chapstick it did nothing for me, I had to get Aquaphor (using it every night before bed has so far made my lips almost normal). Also, make sure to use a facial moisturizer like cetaphil every morning and evening to avoid super dry skin on the face. I'm only in my 3rd week of 40 mg but those two things have done wonders for me.

I'm on my last month of accutane and wish I had done it when I was in High school. My skin is great. The only bad struggles were dry lips with cracked corners for the whole 6 months, migraines for the whole second month, joint pain for the last 3 months and random rashs here and there. Like I said well worth it, people compliment my skin all the time now. You'll get there :-)
