I was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome in 2014 mostly because of jaw pain and swelling of my salivary glands. I was trying to treat them the best I could with massage and heat but nothing was improving. I would only see improvements if I took a taper does of prednisone , but that was something I couldn’t take long term. I remembered Dr Corey Maas telling me that Botox in the salivary glands can shrink them. Fast forward to May 2018 & I finally go in to get them done. By this time I had moved back down to SLO but was not going to have anyone else do this procedure. He started off with a small amount injecting all the glands and also my jaw (TMJ). Within a week I was starting to look like my old self again. However I noticed that when I was getting close to my menstrual cycle I would have a bit of a flare. It would go away after a few days.
I still have some inflammation & I’m thinking of making an appt in September/October for more. I think I could go a bit stronger & possibly more frequently to get me back to where I once was.
Dr. Maas is amazing. I’m forever grateful that he takes the time to see me and do a procedure all of the doctors in my area refuse to do.
Thanks Dr. Maas
