Embrace instructions: I’ve been using Embrace f...
Embrace instructions:
I’ve been using Embrace for a couple of months after undergoing a lower body lift on 10/31/16. I think the instructions from Neodyne are inadequate, and even some of the doctors on Realself are posting pictures of improper applications, so I wanted to share some of my insights. If you follow these guidelines in addition to reading the instruction manual Embrace will easily last over ten days (and if you’re hairy like me, you might shed a tear or two when removing it ha).
1. Trim the area with an electric razor (don’t shave).
2. Cleanse the area with soap.
3. Use alcohol wipes to remove the soap.
4. Use 3M cavilon barrier film wipes before applying (not the cream which makes it easy to overdo it if the skin stays greasy). I can’t stress this enough. The film allows embrace to adhere better and protects the skin from tape related trauma.
5. When applying Embrace, and following the black line on the applicator to align with the middle of the scar, the applicator ends up obstructing your view. To solve this, I took a discarded applicator and cut out the outline of a large strip. I then use the applicator to mark where I want Embrace to go and aim for those marks when applying.
6. If you had a lower body lift with a low lying back incision that goes all the way down to your butt crack, don’t follow the instructional video. Instead, start the application with two strips on each side of the crack to avoid sitting on it directly.
7. The instructions say to not wear a compression garment for two hours after applying, but after speaking with a rep, I was told that was added to help avoid excessive sweating immediately after applying. However, If you can avoid sweating I find that the garments really help smooth out the edges and make sure they aren’t lifting. It’s the first thing I put on when I’m done applying. They also provide extra support while wearing Embrace and I’m still wearing mine despite technically no longer needing to.
8. Because it takes 4 hours for the tape to fully cure and because I have a back incision I like to lay down for a while after applying it, but generally speaking try to take it easy for a while.
9. Avoid strenuous activities while wearing Embrace. With that said I’ve been able to do light upper body weight lifting, but I’m waiting to complete my Embrace application before returning to my full routine. Showering once a day is OK, but avoid fully submerging in water and excessive sweating if possible.

Embrace for lower body lift buttock incision
I wanted to make a quick update to my review. After using embrace for several months I've come to the conclusion that no matter how well it's applied it's not a good fit for the buttock incision in lower body lifts. Aside from the fact that Neodyne's instructional video doesn't take a low-lying incision into account, no matter how well it's applied and how much caution one takes it inevitably shifts a bit under the pressure of sitting. I never had a strip fall off, but they have definitely moved which interferes with their ability to reduce tension, defeating the whole purpose of wearing them. I still recommend Embrace for other areas, but think that steri-strips for the first few months followed by a silicone based gel/cream is the best way to go for this area.
Embrace isn't intended for the back incision of a lower body lift
