Accutane 60mg update

I am so satisfied with my accutane journey! My skin is clear! I am now on 60mg of accutane once daily. I get a few pimples here and there but nothing like I did in the past! I’ve also been using my clay mask twice per week so I think the combination of both has made a true difference in my acne!

Did you notice any skin darkening? I’ve tried accutane twice before and had to stop because my skin turned unnaturally dark. (I’m Serena Williams complexion.) I’m now on Day 2 of a low-dose regimen. (20 mgs) and hoping to avoid this side effect. Thanks!!

Now on 40mg of accutane

I’m now up to 40mg of accutane once daily. Combined with my chemical peels, clay face mask, and clear brightening cream I must say that my acne is completely gone. Now I am just working to clear the blemishes. I’ve had no side effects and everything seems to be working great! I will probably soon stop the chemical peel as I am drying out a little too much. My dermatologist said I could stand a couple more then take a rest from those for awhile. He has been increasing the accutane every month and I’m extremely happy with the results. I will continue to update as time goes on.

Accutane week 6

I am very satisfied with my accutane progress so far. I had a chemical peel a couple of days ago which helps also. The doctor increased the accutane to 30mg once per day which I will start next week. I m drying out quite a bit all over my face. Being able to use a moisturizer is great but it seems like my skin is just sucking anything of moisture out.

Hi there! I've been on acutane for almost 6 months and soon to be done wit treatment. This stuff is awesome and looks like it's really working well for you! I did just want to say, please don't do anything else to your skin while you're on this medication!!!!!! No drying / acne soaps and most definitely not chemical peels! You're on a low dose, so I'm sure your skin hasn't become as sensitive as it will, but acutane dries from the inside out in a major way!!! ALL of your skin is more delicate and those things can burn your skin. Also, be sure to wear sunscreen! You're so much more sensitive to sun and even on darker skin, the sun can discolor it. It can also make scars far worse. Just speaking from personal experience and lots of real self research :):) Good Luck!!

Thanks for your advice. I don’t use any acne soaps or anything like that but my dermatologist who prescribed my accutane also administers my chemical peels. He did say that eventually they would have to stop but they are fine for now. Other than that I’m using all natural products!

Ok good! I had no idea how sensitive my skin was until I started to see the discoloration the sun had done. I'm sure you have a great doctor, but procedures such as chemical peels (which are obviously not covered by insurance) are highly profitable for them. Always remember Doctors are trying to make money too. My doctor was / still is adamant about not doing ANY type of treatment while I was on the medicine. She didn't even want me to use pimple cream! Good luck. Can't wait to see your results!

I have been on for 16 days. I am considerably less oily/greasy which I love. I am hoping it stays that way once I come off the med.

I was on accutane also for 5 months. My skin is good so far. Like you I had an oil refinery on my face. Please stop with the chemical peels while you are on this drug. Your skin can not handle it while on this drug and you might be doing more harm than good. Gentle simple skin care that is super basic. I really liked the Vanicream skin care while i was on this. [RS bleep] luck!

I thank everybody for your advice however I will continue to get my chemical peels which are actually covered by my insurance ( my husband has excellent benefits) until I’m instructed to stop by my dermatologist. I can tell the difference when I get them every two weeks. Not only are they drying up the oil with the accutane and the pimples that I get here and there but they are having a significant effect on my blemishes. I am not getting a high number of acid use with my chemical peels as they decrease the number with each peel until I stop. I know everybody is just trying to help but I trust my dermatologist and I see major results with my chemical peels and the accutane working together. It may not be right for you but it’s definitely working for me. I start accutane 30mg this week and I will continue to update my progress.

We both started our journey around the same time. Hope it all goes well for you.
