Hoping this accutane works to clear my skin. I've been dealing with acne since puberty. Sometimes it can get really bad. Today is September 5, 2017 and I took my first dose of accutane. The doctor prescribed 20mg once daily. The generic brand I'm taking is called absorica. I've had a hysterectomy so I'm not child bearing but I still get really bad breakouts. My skin is very oily espically as I go through the day. By the time I'm home in the evening it looks like I've put a bottle of baby oil on my face. I use a variety of soft cleansing products and I exfoliate at least twice a week. Nothing works. My skin still gets oily and I don't use any moistureizer because of the fact that my skin produces so much oil on its own. I will continue to update everybody on my journey to having clear skin. I'm very nervous about the ib and side effects this drug may cause tho.

Week 2 on accutane
I'm starting to experience some of the ib during week two. I saw improvements in week one but now I getting some large cysts and whiteheads, which is kind of discouraging. My skin is peeling quite a bit espically around the eyebrows and forehead area. I go in for a chemical peel tomorrow. I'll post some pics after.

Hang in there girl... I became impatient as well, waiting to see daily results but it will start clearing before you know it. Take montly pictures because the daily ones do tend to discourage you. Once I compared my day 1pics to my current ones, I didnt realize how far I had come.

DO NOT GET A CHEMICAL PEEL WHILE ON ACCUTANE! DO NOT DO IT! LET THE MEDICATION DO IT'S THING! YOU MUST BE PATIENT! BE PREPARED TO HAVE EXTREMELY DRY SKIN. MY SKIN USED TO LITERALLY FLAKE OFF ALL THE TIME IN FRONT OF PEOPLE, REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH LOTION IS PUT ON.... YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP TAKING YOUR MEDICATION AND APPLYING LOTION. TAKING ACCUTANE IS NOT EASY! I REPEAT IT IS NOT EASY AT ALL! BUT IF YOU TAKE IT AND FOLLOW THE STRICT INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR DERMATOLOGIST THEN YOU WILL BE SO HAPPY WITH THE END RESULTS! TODAY I HAVE BEEN ON CLARAVIS (ACCUTANE) FOR 5 MONTHS. I ONLY HAVE 20 DAYS LEFT AND IT WILL BE 6 MONTHS. I'M STOPPING AT 6 MONTHS. IT HAS BEEN PURE AGGONY FOR ME BUT I'M GLAD I DIDN'T GIVE UP! DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON YOUR FACE, SKIN UNLESS IT'S FRAGRANCE FREE LOTION SUCH AS EUCERIN.... I HAD TO USE A& D DIAPER RASH OINTMENT FOR MY EXTREMELY DRIED OUT LIPS... IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS TO KEEP YOUR LIPS ALIVE!!! YOU HAVE TO APPLY IT ALL THE TIME. I LITERALLY GO EVERYWHERE WITH IT! LOL... ANYTHING HARSH ON YOUR FACE OR SKIN IS TERRIBLE. I WORE MAKEUP AND THE Makeup after I removed it had something in it that made my eyelids swell.... your skin is extremely sensitive while on this medication. Be careful. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of water and don't forget to EAT FOOD EVERY TIME YOU TAKE YOUR MEDICATION SO THE MEDICATION PROPERLY ABSORBS INTO YOUR Bloodstream!!! IF YOU DON'T EAT WITH YOUR MEDICATION THEN YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR LIVER! ALSO DON'T GIVE UP! YOU WILL BREAK OUT REALLY BADLY AT LEAST ONCE OR TWICE ON THESE MEDS..... I MYSELF FELT SO DISCOURAGED THAT I ALMOST GAVE UP!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!! IF YOU COULD SEE HOW BEAUTIFUL MY SKIN LOOKS NOW YOU WOULD BE LIKE OH WOW!!!!!

Had a chemical peel today
Had a chemical peel today. Check out the pics. Face is kinda sore due to a break out on my right cheek. I think I'm experiencing the ib. The chemical peel made my face feel clean and refreshed. It really helps with the blemishes. It seems to bring my whiteheads up and it's hard for me not to pick at them.
