Hoping this accutane works to clear my skin. I've been dealing with acne since puberty. Sometimes it can get really bad. Today is September 5, 2017 and I took my first dose of accutane. The doctor prescribed 20mg once daily. The generic brand I'm taking is called absorica. I've had a hysterectomy so I'm not child bearing but I still get really bad breakouts. My skin is very oily espically as I go through the day. By the time I'm home in the evening it looks like I've put a bottle of baby oil on my face. I use a variety of soft cleansing products and I exfoliate at least twice a week. Nothing works. My skin still gets oily and I don't use any moistureizer because of the fact that my skin produces so much oil on its own. I will continue to update everybody on my journey to having clear skin. I'm very nervous about the ib and side effects this drug may cause tho. Updated on 13 Sep 2017: I'm starting to experience some of the ib during week two. I saw improvements in week one but now I getting some large cysts and whiteheads, which is kind of discouraging. My skin is peeling quite a bit espically around the eyebrows and forehead area. I go in for a chemical peel tomorrow. I'll post some pics after. Updated on 14 Sep 2017: Had a chemical peel today. Check out the pics. Face is kinda sore due to a break out on my right cheek. I think I'm experiencing the ib. The chemical peel made my face feel clean and refreshed. It really helps with the blemishes. It seems to bring my whiteheads up and it's hard for me not to pick at them. Updated on 24 Sep 2017: This is my fourth week on accutane. My acne is starting to clear up besides some small white and blackheads. My nose area, lips and around my eyebrows are starting to become very dry. I use a little moisturizer around those areas. I’ve also started using some clay masks to begin work on my blemishes. I ordered a clay mask called bentonite clay off amazon that I was told I’d see the difference in my blemishes getting lighter in three days! I posted a pic of it and I can’t wait to see results. I am going to mix it with some braggs apple cider viniger and some 100% tea tree oil. I am also going to order a Indian healing clay and a Shea butter bar to wash my face with which I posted pics of. These items were recommended to me by a friend who’s skin is flawless! These items aren’t too expensive either so that is a plus. So far I am satisfied with the accutane results. It feels good to not have a face full of oil. I will keep updating you all on my progress. Updated on 3 Oct 2017: I am very satisfied with my accutane progress so far. I had a chemical peel a couple of days ago which helps also. The doctor increased the accutane to 30mg once per day which I will start next week. I m drying out quite a bit all over my face. Being able to use a moisturizer is great but it seems like my skin is just sucking anything of moisture out. Updated on 10 Nov 2017: I’m now up to 40mg of accutane once daily. Combined with my chemical peels, clay face mask, and clear brightening cream I must say that my acne is completely gone. Now I am just working to clear the blemishes. I’ve had no side effects and everything seems to be working great! I will probably soon stop the chemical peel as I am drying out a little too much. My dermatologist said I could stand a couple more then take a rest from those for awhile. He has been increasing the accutane every month and I’m extremely happy with the results. I will continue to update as time goes on. Updated on 21 Jan 2018: I am so satisfied with my accutane journey! My skin is clear! I am now on 60mg of accutane once daily. I get a few pimples here and there but nothing like I did in the past! I’ve also been using my clay mask twice per week so I think the combination of both has made a true difference in my acne!
