Update

Well after having to stop accutane because of the side effects I started spironolactone 25mg about a year ago and has had no problems. No new breakouts since accutane and my skin is regaining moisture. My skin is still very uneven since accutane but foundation does a good job of balancing. I must admit my self esteem has improved tremendously but one can never forget those horrific days.

Update

Just wanted to add one more pic

Had to stop therapy

This update is long overdue. I had to stop taking accutane at the begining of month 3. After reducing the dosage from 80mg to 40mg a day the side effects progressed to severe hip and chest pains. I thought to myself that I would rather live with acne than live in pain. So I stopped taking them. Overall mt skin has cleared. It been 9.5 months since my last dose and I still have some dry lips and skin. Though it is not as bad as it was. Carmex never leaves my purse and I keep one under my pillows. I can say that if you can tolerate the side effects its is definitely worth it otherwise find something else. My skin is still a little darker than my baseline but I am seeing where it is clearing in segments but make up covers it well. Still have a few more pounds to shed from acutane but I aint stressing. Got my confidence back and loving life. See new pics below.
