Provider Review
I visited Dr. Weinfeld on two occasions. The first for my initial rhinoplasty and the second for my revision rhinoplasty. During our first meeting I explained I wanted my large dorsal hump, bulbous tip and nostril size reduced. He assured me this was doable and explained he was "pricier" than other doctors due to his extensive experience and many accolades. At this time, I was in college and relied heavily on the help of my grandparents as well as my scant savings to pay for the procedure, priced just under 9k. After the first surgery, I noticed a large divot near the top of my left of my bridge, you could feel the hole if you pressed your finger on the side of my nose. My nose also curved very sharply to the right. I understand "asymmetry" can occur but this was something different all together. I visited his office before the year was up, he and his physician assistant administered Juvederm injections to the large divot as well several smaller pockets all over my nose. He told me that my cartilage in those areas had "deteriorated." Several months later, I came back as my nose continued its curve to the right, the hump on my nose was still noticeable, and my tip shape was ultimately unchanged. We had a back and forth to which he thought my nose was "fine", but because I was dissatisfied I qualified for a revision. He did NOT charge me for a revision, however, I'm still paying for that second surgery every day because I can no longer breathe out of my left nostril. After consulting with two different plastic surgeons, one in Austin and the other in Houston, it seems Weinfeld indeed made my nose "smaller" but made no changes internally. My left nostril is close to collapsing. Also, the turbinates in my left nostril are so misshapen and huge (an issue I did NOT have before Weinfeld) that they take up all available space inside the collapsing nostril. Not to mention, the other surgeons both agreed my nose was broken in the WRONG place, leading to my plethora of breathing issues...collapsed nostril and all. I am unable to breathe most days. I can NO longer sleep comfortably at night. I frequently exhibit cold like symptoms because my nose cannot filtrate air properly in that nostril. Sometimes I physically have to stick my finger in the collapsing nostril to alleviate airflow. I am a voice actor, I provide voice over to commercials, video games and cartoons. Proper breathe support is integral to being effective, getting hired, and maintaining jobs, but technique can only go so far when your nose is internally collapsing. Because of not one but two BOTCHED procedures my options are severely limited. My confidence is gone not only in my appearance but also my health. Other surgeons have quoted me 17k to repair the damage Weinfeld has done. In all honesty, I don't know if I'll EVER be able to afford another revision. I write this review because I was told to keep "waiting" until I had fully healed...well it's been 2 years since my procedure and my health and wellbeing have rapidly declined. I would not trust him to "fix" my nose again even if he offered. I am disappointed, depressed, and ultimately defeated.
