Hi Tiffany1570,
You'll be fine..... Just take your pain meds the way your PS tells you and you won't feel pain. I took my Percocet every 4 hrs. Even if I didn't have pain for 2 wks. I never felt any pain. Wear your compression garment and don't stop wearing it until your PS tells you not to. It's important to wear it because it helps your swelling go down and helps your skin adhere back to the muscles in your tummy. Most of all take it easy and follow your PS's instructions. You'll be just fine, your young and strong..God Bless and Hugs from NJ.

You'll be fine..... You'll need someone to help you for at least 24 hrs. You will probably feel groggy, it's normal , stay hydrated and take your pain meds.

Yeah actually my boyfriend is going to be helping me throughout this whole process which is very nice of him. I know the doctor is going to give me a shot of exparel to help with the pain IF I have to get my muscles repaired.

Good Morning Tiffany1570,
Please make sure you have some sort of recliner. If you don't.... a sturdy long lawn chair that reclines will do. Pad it with pillows or cushions. You will NOT be able to lay flat (your PS will tell you) for about 3 weeks (depending on how you heel, everyone is different). Have plenty of water available to drink, sometimes anesthisia will take the appetite away but you need something, water is a natural healer. Don't worry about your weight, it will increase after surgery because you will have swelling and waster retention because of the surgery. Your body wants to fill an empty space so it rushes to fill the surgical area to heal it. Your body uses every resource it has to start healing. That's why wearing your compression garment is crucial, it helps the skin adhere back to the muscle that was disrupted due to surgery and will press the fluid out your body. I'm not a doctor, just trying to help ( I went through it) and these are the things my PS told me.
One more day!!Happy for you.

I actually just got a recliner yesterday! My work place was going to throw one away so I asked if I could have it and they allowed!! I'll be sure to drink plently of water and wear my garment at all times. Thanks for informing me of all of this - it's really helping me out :)

Hi , don't be scared . I am 58 years old and had a tummy tuck and lipo in September. there is some discomfort but very manageable and worth every bit. I do a double take each time I catch a veiw in the mirror. The first few days are the worse ,by day 5 I was out for short excursions. The soreness lasts for a while but ibuprofen was all I needed. Good luck! Will watch your progress.

Oh great! This comment helps calm me down!! I can't wait to actually like how I look in clothes. I've been overweight/ obese my whole life so it's going to be a new to me. No more wearing hoodies in the middle of summer when it's 85+ degrees! As of right now I have that nervous/ excited feeling kind of like before you go on a roller coaster!

Hello!! Can you post your before and after weight loss measurements.
Thx!!
November 16, 2014
We have surgery around the same time, I hope everything goes great for the both of us, but don't be nervous, i know i am but i realized its not helping me any lol just trying to keep calm too. See you on the flat side!
November 16, 2014
I'll try and use your advice! I hope it goes well for both of us too and I'm sure it will!! Be sure to update about your recovery so I know how everything is going!

November 20, 2014
You can do it!! Oh yeah...... Sometimes the compression garment might rub your skin..... Just slide some gauze or a pantiliner inside so it doesn't rub...... Your garment will get looser as the weeks pass cause the swelling will decrease.
November 20, 2014
Good advice!!! I'll have to go pick some of those up! :) thanks for all you've told me so far!!
November 20, 2014
Check with your physician, but I have heard of people placing their tank top under their compression garment. Perhaps that will help?

November 20, 2014
Yep ...... That's a great suggestion!...I've heard of that too.
And that will also help.
November 20, 2014
Alright. I'll be sure to ask about that! I've heard of people getting rubbed and rashes from them so I'll ask for sure.
