This review is, frankly, extremely long overdue. I post it in hopes that the company will see it and resolve the situation rather than ignoring it as they have done up to this point. If it gets resolved, I will happily remove or update this review.
In Spring 2022, I expressed interest in looking into the services provided by AirSculpt (then known as Elite Body Sculpture, or EBS Salt Lake). I scheduled a consultation and met with one of their surgeons named Dr. Kelly. During the consultation, I expressed that, if I moved forward and received services, I would want (in addition to my abdomen and lower back) my chest treated. He made a treatment recommendation. I asked if the treatment he was recommending would include having side part of my chest (also known as the "armpit") treated, and he assured me that it would, so despite the significantly higher price tag when compared to other medical spas, I accepted his recommendation (again, with the understanding that this would include the "armpit"/sides of my chest), paid the $21,000.00 price tag, and moved forward with his recommended treatment plan.
I followed all pre-op and post-op instructions, including wearing the compression garment, regularly massaging the treated areas, receiving regular lymphatic drainage massages, taking the recommended supplements for swelling. Six months following my treatment (October 2022), I once again met with Dr. Kelly for my 6-month post op visit, during which I expressed concern that it didn't appear that the sides of my chest had been treated at all. He actually agreed with me but assured me that he could rectify the situation and treat the armpit area during a "revision" treatment which would be no further cost to me except for the prescription medication. I agreed, and we scheduled the revision treatment.
Shortly before my scheduled revision, I was informed that Dr. Kelly was no longer with the company, and I would be treated by a different doctor. When I arrived for my revision procedure (January 2023), I informed the new doctor what Dr. Kelly had promised me, and I was assured that the area would be treated. Unfortunately, it was not. The new doctor had merely “touched up” a couple of the areas Dr. Kelly had already treated.
When I went in for my 7 day post op (following the “revision”) I (once again) expressed concern that the area did not seem to have been treated. The nurse who saw me tried to gaslight me by claiming, "Oh, that's just swelling! It will go down after a few months!" It didn't. The area still hadn't been treated.
After waiting several months to see if the "swelling" would it fact go down and seeing that it wasn't going down, I reached out to the company via text message on May 11, 2023. I didn't hear back from anyone for several days, so I sent in a follow up text on May 15, 2023 (see attached screen shots). I, once again, expressed concern that the area hadn't been treated and asked that someone reach out to let me know what my options were. Over a month and a half passed, and no one reached out to me, so I ( once again) sent a follow up text, only to receive a 7 word reply on June 28, 2023: "Hi, let me chat with my manager."
I responded, "Thank you. When may I expect to hear back from you? Would it be possible for a manager to reach out directly?"
Days passed, and I received no response.
I sent another text: "Would it be best to drive down there and come in person?"
Three more weeks passed, and I still hadn't heard anything, so on July 21, 2023 I texted: "Am I being ghosted?"
Finally, three days, after that (July 24, 2023), I received the following text:
"I replied to you on the 5th" (no they didn't)
"Unfortunately you already had your revision and it looks like we cannot treat that area again."
When I called to try to explain (once again) that they never treated the area AT ALL, they still refused to do anything about it.
I left a negative review (which, somehow, got deleted) hoping that this would get their attention and specified that once the matter was rectified I would either remove the review or change it to a positive one. Apparently it did get their attention because they called me and told me I could come in and meet with someone to discuss the situation. This time, I figured I ought to audio record the meeting so they wouldn't be able to gaslight me later. During the meeting (held September 28, 2023), I (once again) expressed my concern that the area hadn't been treated (as Dr. Kelly promised it would be). The staff tried to make excuses (you can hear it on the recording), such as "We don't know what Dr. Kelly promised you," and claiming that I had someone filled out my intake form incorrectly, thus making it so they "couldn't legally treat that area", but they would treat it if I would pay them an extra $1,000.00. They even printed out a quote that specified that the extra treatment would cost me $1,000.00 (and you can hear it in the recording). This was extremely disappointing (I had already paid them $21,000.00 and undergone two major procedures with the understanding that the area would be addressed), but figured there was nothing I could do to convince them to actually do what they promised to do since Dr. Kelly was no longer there. A few days later (October 2, 2023), I sent in a text message to schedule the procedure to have my "armpit" area treated. On November 7, 2023, they responded that they would no longer honor the price of $1,000 but would instead be charging me $2,000 unless I wanted to pair the procedure with a "mini tummy tuck" for a total of $5,000.00. When I refused and reminded them that I had the price quote (both in writing and via the verbal recording), they refused to honor the quoted price, saying the lowest they would go would be $1,495 and tried to claim that the $1,000 price quote was only if I paired it with the mini tummy tuck. I again reviewed the audio recording and the written price quote, and in neither place was that ever specified. When I reminded them of this, they stopped responding all together (again, see attached screen shots of text message exchange). This appears to be in violation of Utah Business Law Code Ann. 13-11a-3, also known as the "truth in advertising statute, which prohibits "deceptive trade practices such as passing off goods as another's, misrepresenting the source or quality of goods, and advertising with no intent to sell them as advertised", designed to protect consumers from false or misleading business conduct.
I feel like I have been mislead, manipulated, and falsely advertised to by AirSculpt and respectfully request that immediate action be taken to rectify the situation.
