I am 63 years old, and first had breast implants in 1978 when I was 27 years old. I had never developed normal breasts, was almost as fIat as a boy, being barely a 34 AAA. I lwas thrilled with not having to wear padded bras, and loved my implants, which put me at about 34 B-C, felt normal finally, and had only had minimal trouble with those contracting a little at the beginning. Everything was fine for over 34 years. After a short infection in the left breast, which I believe was caused by dental work, the
left one began leaking. Mammography showed it had broken through the capsule in a "snowstorm" effect, and leaked into the breast tissue. This was the old fashioned liquid silicone, and it had invaded most of the breast by the time I saw Dr. Repta.
On July 8, almost exactly one year ago, I had my surgery. He did a compete capsulectomy, removed both implants and had to remove much tissue from my left breast. Both implants had been leaking, but the left one was definitely in the worse shape. It was a mess. In order to clean out as much of the silicone as he could, he had to remove some of the aureola around the nipple and also remove a lot of tissue, going in from the outside as well as through the original scar under the breast. . I understood from my research that it was almost impossible to remove all the old style 70's silicone once it had gone into the breast tissue, so I was pleasantly surprised a few months later when I had my mammogram, to discover that there was only a minimal amount he hadn't been able to remove.
He is really amazing, as he was able to visualize what size implant to replace in the left breast, so that it would match the right one, after all the swelling and changes had taken place. The right one, which did not suffer as much damage mostly only needed a new implant. I left the decision of size up to him, though I didn't want to go much larger. He thought that slightly larger implants would reverse the look of the sagging. He used Smooth, round Moderate Classic Profile Mentor implants. I am very happy with this shape. He also rebuilt the pockets so that they were closer together and gave me for the first time in my life, some cleavage! The first plastic surgeon had simply put the implants under the breasts exactly where they were. My breasts were not only tiny, but also very far apart, so even with the implants I had no cleavage.
I love my new breasts, and I consider Dr. Repta to be not only an excellent doctor, but sort of an artist as well. My new breasts are perkier, closer together and feel good on my body, and they are very symmetrical in size and looks. I think this was quite a difficult thing to accomplish considering what he had to work with. He told me after the surgery that to remove every trace of the leaked silicone would have required almost a mastectomy. I do have a little scar on the outside of the left breast, and the nipple of the left breast has a smaller aureola, but size and shape of the breasts are perfect, and they have remained pretty soft.
I highly recommend Dr. Repta if you are looking for a kind, and caring surgeon with excellent skills. I will certainly return to him for any other procedures.

Wow, what an amazing story! I'm so glad your revision went well despite all the work that had to be done. In hindsight, do you recall any health symptoms that may have been due to the silicone? It didn't really sound like it so that is good. That's great you have your symmetry and even some cleavage now...hooray! Feel free to comment on a forum for members in their 50's and older with implants...they're a great group of gals. Congratulations!
