I had a complex rhinoplasty procedure, which involved changing basically every element of my nose. Before my surgery, my nose was not symmetrical, it was oversized, it had a prominent bone and bump, and the tip was huge. I hated everything about it. I'd heard good things about Dr Ha and felt like I was in confident hands from the first appointment. Dr Ha is friendly and accommodating. He is honest about the expected results, but also able to put your mind at ease. I didn't feel that there was any pressure to proceed beyond the first appointment, which I also liked. At the initial consultation I was able to ask a lot of questions about the procedure. Dr Ha said there was a lack of cartilage in my nose, so there was the possibility I would need a rib graft as part of the surgery. I decided to proceed with the surgery after further thought and reviewing the computer images of the results Dr Ha was aiming for. I also figured that since I hated my nose anyway, whatever result was achieved would be an improvement! On the day of the surgery I was feeling very nervous, but briefly seeing Dr Ha ahead of going into theatre put my mind at ease. I'm not going to sugarcoat it - this is a major operation. I was in surgery for six hours because of the complexity of my surgery, which had also required a rib graft. When I came out, the anaesthetic made me shiver uncontrollably and I had next to no sleep that first night. I also bruise like a peach, so I ended up with two shiners around my eyes, which looked worst on days two and three. Having said that, all of the information had been provided to me, so I did know what I was in for. I saw Dr Ha the next morning and he told me that the surgery had been complicated, but that it had gone really well. He ensured I had all of the medications I needed and the nurse talked this through with me in further detail later. I saw Dr Ha one week after the surgery and he removed my splint. I was very swollen initially, but he assured me that the swelling was normal and would go down in time. Two weeks post-surgery I could go out in public without anyone looking twice at me, so the speed of my recovery really was amazing. I've just had my four week check and Dr Ha says while there is a tiny bit of swelling still to go down, the result is fantastic. I definitely agree. Seeing the before and after pictures today was pretty amazing. What's more amazing is that the result is so natural that a lot of people haven't actually noticed, even though when I review those 'before' and 'after' photos next to each other the change is pretty dramatic. I'm very grateful to Dr Ha for his work, his attention to detail and the care he has shown me throughout the process. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others considering this type of surgery.
