I am a 40 year old who had a little double chin. I booked myself for an appointment to get Kybella treatment with Dr Shobhan Manoharan at Brisbane Skin. However, 3 days before the appointment, I had a bike accident which left me swollen around the face and chin. I still attended the appointment at Brisbane Skin. Dr Manoharan said I could go ahead with the treatment, even though the Kybella prospectus clearly stipulates that someone with a swollen face should not be injected because of the risk to the nerves, muscles and tissues. I suffered nerve damage as a result of Dr Manoharan's treatment, which means I have a drooping lip and an asymmetrical smile which is not resolving, and which is being followed up by a neurologist. It may never resolve. I also have a dent in the middle of my neck and sagging bits and pieces of skin as well as damage to my skin. Please note I am of Mediterranean background and had a completely smooth neck prior to this. I have been left with the neck of a 60 year old, and a drooping lower lip. I am beyond traumatised. It's been life -altering and I am in need of corrective surgery to the neck.

He was impersonal, didn't care that I was visibly swollen, did not respect the Kybella prospectus which stipulates that you should not inject someone who is swollen as there is the risk of damaging nerves, muscle and tissue (which is what he inflicted on my mouth, which is now drooping), assured me my skin would not sag (it sags and there is a dent), did not ask me whether I was on any medication or what my overall health condition was, guaranteed me the product posed no cancer risk (there have been no long-term studies carried out, as I found out later by reading the prospectus post event). A life changing, horrendous and traumatic experience, which I am undergoing counselling for and which will also require corrective surgery.
