WORTH IT
It all started when I was 13 years old. A basketball hit my face and I had a genetic predisposition to a wide bulbous nose. The summer of 7th grade my pediatric ENT repaired my deviated septum. I was unhappy with the esthetic results and being a conscientious teenager, the following summer the same physician preformed a tip septoplasty. It still wasn’t the nose I had hoped for but my breathing was slightly improved.
Throughout high school and college in Michigan I was self conscious of the appearance of my nose. I utilized makeup and really tried to mask it. In 2003, I then moved to NYC at 22 years old to pursue education in the medical field. During the first holiday break I returned to Michigan to have my nose revised by a highly esteemed reconstructive plastic surgeon. Results improved; however, the tip still drooped. Hoping to improve the esthetics, I repeated this surgery again the summer of 2007. The surgical procedure performed was an over reduction of the lateral (side) cartilages interfering with normal breathing, and the tip was not lifted appropriately. As I continued my education and furthered my studies in New York City, opportunities to meet the world’s finest physicians became available to me. After extensive research I made the decision to go through the surgical process one more time to obtain the necessary anatomical and esthetic results.

I had cartilage taken from my ear to use as donor cartilage as well as another synthetic type graft material used for support. Since I had four prior surgeries, and being a doctor myself, I know how limited blood supply can be each time you approach a site. I am astonished with my results and so very thankful.

@nm1212: I sent you another message.
May I ask what field YOU practice in?
And can you tell us all the specific type of graft he was willing to use in you, and the material? They're all different, and their usage is different. I want an alloplastic used specifically to help with my valve collapse.
I'm sure you can answer this question easily, being that you work in the medical field yourself.
