Summary on the day of the surgery and follow up recovery

My surgery took place at the Lenox Hospital (Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital), I was very well received since the moment I walked in. My appointment was supposed to start at 12:30 pm and was asked to be there by 11:00 AM, as soon as I walked in, I was told that the doctor was done earlier from his previous surgery and he wanted me to be next right away. The admin assistant gave me several pages to sign, and charged me for the facility fee: $2,200.00. Few days earlier I had paid $1,200 for the anesthesia fee. We also decided to hire a nurse for about 14 hours (65.00 per hours) The contact was given to us through my doctor's admin. The nurse was very nice, professional and helpful, but I don't think it is necessary to hire one, as long as you have somebody that is there for you for everything and puts ice around your ice every half hour for at least 8 hours. At the hospital the nurses were very attentive and friendly, I felt so many people were taking care of me. Once you are inside the hospital, the nurse will ask you for urine. My clothing was safely locked in one of their lockers and I was wearing the patient's uniform: gown, blue hair cover and brown non-slippery socks, I was taken to the floor were I would see Dr. Romo and his crew that will be with me during my surgery. I was very please to meet more friendly professionals on that floor. Among others, I met the nurse that was going to be with me during the surgery, a young doctor that was going to be watching during my surgery, and the anesthesiology (Randy) who gave me a lot of certainty that I was going to be okay because I told her that I wasn't afraid of the surgery, I was afraid to be put under anesthesia. Later on, one of the nurses who saw me talking to the anesthesiology told me that she was one of the best anesthesiologists. Looking back I was in the best hands in every single part of the journey.
After the surgery, seconds after somebody was trying to wake me up, I was asked if I had any pain, I was feeling medium strong pain on top of my eyelids not sure if I could feel pain somewhere else I was way to sleepy and drowsy, and right away I was given some pain medicine because it immediately that pain went away.
I could hear Dr Romo's voice saying to people around me that all went well, maybe he was saying that to me. I was happy.
My husband and nurse were with me almost immediately after I left the surgery room, shortly after that we started heading outside to go to the hotel across the street. I was feeling very hungry! On my way out I saw a nurse with cookies and I asked for one, she gave it to me and my mouth was very dry, so I asked for water. My private nurse didn't want me to have anything, and she was right. At the first sip of water I vomit the water.

We had hotel reservations at the Affina Gardens NY, make your reservations with anticipation that hotel gets full quickly. My surgery was July 9th and reservations dispatcher wouldn't rent me a room unless I stay two nights! I only need it one night so I had to talk to the hotel supervisor and thankfully, I was able to rent for one night, it was $500 dollars that night plus taxes, the manager told me they were at the price because of the holiday season- 4th of July.

My eyelids were not bleeding, I didn't have any dripping nose from the anesthesia. Just for one day I didn't shower but the nurse helped me clean with several wet towels, being at the hotel was helpful.

My doctor's recommendation food list suggested low salt diet and my husband help me follow it, I had no salt in anything! Tough love but i think it has help.

As you can see I went ahead and gave very high reviews to Dr. Romo, it is probably way too soon to assume I will be satisfy with the results, but I will let you know abut my progress and my experience as the days go by. After ten days of my surgery I was very excited to see the changes even though I was still inflamed, to me I was looking great, this is why I couldn't wait to let you that my experience so far has been very satisfactory.

My only concern is the scars and the pink eye is still there, the doctor say it is normal so I won't worry. Last Thursday, July 24th, I went to see Dr. Romo and he took the stitches out and staples on the side of my temples, he said the scars are still very-very new, that I have to wait more time to see the results, but everything looked ok to him even the scars on my lower eyelids. He recommended a cream for the lower part of my eyelids that he sells in his office "bioCorneum" plus spf30 "advanced scar supervision", $50 dollars plus tax. I will give you my review on this cream in a few months.

If yo have any questions about my experience or recovery please ask. I will not put pictures of my whole face just my eyes and that's when I get more time and when my eyes are not red. I don't want to be in-front of my computer for too long. I am still recovering.

It took me several hours and days to find the best...

It took me several hours and days to find the best qualified cosmetic surgeon that I could find in the East Coast. After selecting a few surgeons from the website, I would start reading their bio, searching for newspapers articles, youtube videos, and then I would disqualify some of them and start all over again until I got the best one. The personal reviews on their job had a heavy weight on my selection. My surgery was 15 days ago, I feel it is my turn to give to the community my personal experience after the surgery, and it is with great pleasure that I have to let you know about Dr. Thomas Romo.
Let us assume you have read his bio, (it is a must that you read it) he has a big significance amount of years in the cosmetic surgery field and that is not even enough words for all of his accomplishments, and to stand out even more from other top plastic surgeons, he is the founder and president of the Little Baby Face Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides free surgery to indigent children born with facial deformities. Dr. Romo was not only blessed with talent but with a big compassionate heart.

As you can probably imagine I am still healing, and I am healing very well and rapidly: Blepharoplasty, temporal lift and fat to face.

I will write more about my progress as I find the time to do it and my eyes get better. Today most of inflammation on the outside is gone at least from where it was the first few days, it has considerably come down. The inside of one of my eyes is very-very red, this is why I will stop writing at this point. Resting is important.

The best part about my recovery is that I trust Dr. Romo. It is a big peace of mind who does your surgery. And I am not even done talking about him! You have to meet him in person, he has all this positive energy around him, very charming, knowledgeable and and gives his honest opinion which is what make the first appointments the most exciting part of your visit. He is a blessing to our community and for those like me, will always be grateful I was one of his patients.

Please be patient until I put some pictures.
