I had a major rhinoplasty in April of 2022. In August of 2023 I had a minor revision because I was still having breathing issues on my left side. My surgeon felt the nasal cavity on my left side was too small and that was what was causing the breathing issue. He enlarged it using a bone saw. Every minute since that day I have had pain in my lower septum radiating to my front teeth. I have had my teeth checked extensively several times and they are fine. Anyone have an ideas. I need relief.
Hi there! I had a septorhinoplasty in 2022 and by and large, I'm very happy with the results. One thing I've noticed, however, is this somewhat persistent and mildly irritating itching sensation on the left side, near the supratip break. Sometimes it feels like it's deeper in my sinuses and radiating towards my eye. It is not painful, just annoying. Could this be nerve damage? Is it likely permanent at this point?
I had rhinoplasty 4 years ago and I have no feeling in most of my nose. So this permanent Nerve damage is the fault of the physician or just bad luck? Does this mean going into a facelift I should worry about the same thing happening or completely unrelated?
I've been reading about this in the Q&A section on here and trying to do research before opting to have a tip rhinoplasty. I'm wondering how common nerve damage to the upper lip is + how long an impacted lip/smile lasts + if it is ever permanent, or just a temporary side effect of the surgery. Thanks for the responses!
I am 6 days post op from surgery that included chin liposuction , buccal fat removal, chin intraoral chin implant and a closed rhinoplasty. My chin feels odd and I'm unable to open my mouth more than about 1/2 inch wide. Also I'm unable to smile normal. I don't have full control over my upper or lower lips and top left lip minimal movement. it has also made my mouth look awkward when I speak. Should I be concerned of nerve damage? Please help. I'm only 27 and I'm very concerned.
I had my nose job 8 days ago, and yesterday I took my cast off. But I have this weird sensation in my nose, like having local anesthesia there, feels like I had nerve problems there. I am kind of afraid of any nerve damage! , when I move my face to laugh, smile, Whistle etc.. it feels awkward. Please tell me what is happening and If it's something wrong.
Is surgery or implant better option. It is very hard breathing currently. Huge improvement wearing breathe right strips - even voice is less raspy and clearer. An implant like Latera seems less invasive but risk of infection and feeling of foreign body in nose. Surgeon has told me surgery (using septal grafts to support cartilage) is not always successful and carries risks of nerve damage, dryness. Can you suggest which option might be better?
My ENT is referring me to a plastic surgeon for nasal valve collapse correction. It is quite severe even at rest. I have already nasal nerve damage and dryness. Is there some risk of further damage using septal cartilage and if so is ear cartilage acceptable for alar batten grafts?
Naturally in the first few weeks pain is to be expected, but can the nose ache permanently in some cases if nerve damage was caused by cutting the septum or surrounding cartilage? I know bones sometimes never feel quite right after being fractured, I'm wondering if cartilage could be the same.
