I had buccal fat removal and chin lipo about 6 days ago.. my swelling has significantly gone down since I can now talk and enjoy food a bit better. One side of my cheek is really noticeably bigger and it's bugging me like crazy! The day I came home from surgery the doctor allowed me to replace my mouth gauzes if I felt the ones he placed got too damp and mushy. When I did this I feel as if I might have pulled the stitches. Today I checked with a mirror and it is in fact open! What do I do?!
I've contacted a doctor in regards to buccal fat removal , he was very thermal about the procedure and I hnderstood everything , the only concern that I have is that he mentioned he would leave the incision open and free of any stitches so the incision can heal on its own within days . He said it was safe as long as I followed all hygiene instructions including using the special mouthwash he was going to give me . Is this ok ? Or should I be worried and look for another doctor ?
My swelling has gone down a bit. However there is still some swelling left. Will I need to go back to have new stitches in? My surgeon insists that there is nothing to worry about and to keep gargling the mouth wash, etc. Is this normal or will it become infected? Thanks..
The doctor thinks he damaged the salivary gland as it worsened after food. When it first happened, he removed some stitches and allowed the saliva to 'flow' into the mouth which eased it. at home 2 days later, saliva is not flowing as i think the inner cheek has healed closed. He has suggested it will heal itself or we can drain it in a couple of days. He doesnt seem certain about the best action. Any advice? I am very distressed, from my research I thought this was a low risk procedure!
