I have been severely sick for the past six months or so , so I stopped wearing my invisalign. Now that I am better I want to start wearing them again but obviously the tray won't fit. Do I have to start all over and pay for the treatment all over again?
Answer: After 6 months of not wearing Invisalign probably means start over Essentially starting over is where you are at. Some aligners may fit, but not likely. It may even mean full fee to start over, since all the aligners are created when the case starts and if they can't be used from the first case then it is starting over completely.

Answer: Restarting Invisalign treatment after 6 months of not wearing aligners. I was sorry to hear of your illness but am pleased to hear of your recovery. It sounds as if you will have to start treatment all over again as the teeth have shifted and the aligners no longer fit. Since the process will require new impressions and fabrication of new aligners you would most likely be responsible for the full fee. I would recommend taking a long term view of the situation and think of the pleasure you will enjoy over the years of having a wonderful smile

Answer: Ask Doctor to submit a Mid-Course Correction Invisalign takes into account the fact that sometimes stuff like this happens. Sometimes treatment, for whatever reason needs to be started over again. I like to use the analogy, for example, a reboot of your computer. If your treatment was a comprehensive or full InvisAlign case your doctor has the ability to submit a midcourse correction to start over again. Believe it or not but this option is used quite frequently. In terms of cost, a midcourse correction is usually included in your fee. However, since you stopped wearing your aligners...it is not your doctors fault and you may have to pay a small fee for him/her to re-submit your case (time and cost for having to re-take impressions, etc). You definitely will not have to re-pay the entire fee...maybe $200 or so. Hope that helps.

Answer: What Happens After Not Wearing Invisalign Aligners for 6 Months? You know life is unpredictable. Hard to say what is going to happen. While we would like to plan for living in an orderly world we don't live in such a world. Dentists understand this. The very best thing to do is to go see your Invisalign provider. Talk to him/her. Share your situation. Maybe your teeth have only moved back part and you can start a few aligners back. Maybe your relapse has been total and so you can start at #1. Maybe your relapse is nonexistent so you can keep on going. Ask for them to call Invisalign and see if there can be a credit or some deal struck for your situation depending on what it is. No one knows at this point, and yet in the back of your mind, worst case scenario, keep open to you might have to pay the full amount. Good luck. Keep open. And don't stop until all possibilities are worked through.
