Is it safe to consume collagen supplement every day for the next 40+ years or so? Does it affect heart or other parts of the body? Lastly, does it help build strong meniscus in the knee joints?
Answer: Safe! Yes it is safe, whatever your body doesn’t need will be disposed of. (urination, sweating ect) A balanced lifestyle and/or eating foods higher in collagen trumps any supplement. Unfortunately supplements can’t specifically help certain muscle groups like your meniscus. Have you seen your physio for strengthening exercises?

Manufacturers would have you believe that if you swallow the collagen supplement, it will go directly into your skin as collagen. Sorry, but this isn't how our gastrointestinal system works, despite the collagen supplement hype. So, save your money. Eating a healthy, balanced diet is still the best way to go. Hope this helps.
