Yes, Removing fat from the side of your breasts and chest wall at the same time as Breast Reduction if appropriate makes a big difference and well worth the extra expense and often makes a big difference.
Liposuction can certainly be performed on the lateral aspect of the breast/back at the same time as a breast reduction.
The area on the side of breast extending to the arm pits are made up from the " tail of breasts" and fatty tissues in the arm pits. Usually, after breast reduction this area become more pronounced, if they are not addressed at the time of reduction mammoplasty. I routinely perform liposuction in this area to improve the results of the surgery. It adds 15 minutest to the operation, however it results to have more pleaseing shape of breasts. Time and effort well spent.
Thank you for the question. You will find that the answer to your question will depend your exact situation and the plastic surgeon you choose to perform the breast reduction surgery. Some plastic surgeons will routinely use liposuction as a tool to help contour the breasts and the lateral chest wall area; some plastic surgeons do not. Sometimes, it is necessary to remove additional skin in the area that you described; otherwise patients will be left with significant skin/adipose tissue (fullness) in this area. The downside associated with removal of skin in this area is the necessity to extend the scar out to the side. Many patients will accept the scar for an improvement in the contour of the area. Make sure you discuss your goals and concerns with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes. Breast reduction surgery is one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform.
Hi. Since you ask, you must have fullness on the sides, and this is taken care of with liposuction together with the breast reduction.
Your request is a fairly common one and easily done. Just tell your surgeon. It adds about 5 minutes or less per side to the case and when we do it there is not an extra charge.
You should discuss the possibility of performing liposuction of your lateral breasts at the time of your reduction with your plastic surgeon. I sometimes do this, but not always. It may or may not be feasible in your case.
The choice to do liposuction at the time of a breast reduction is always individualized. Thirty to forty per cent of my patients choose to add on some liposuction or a tummy tuck at the time of breast reduction. It can improve the result if adjacent areas are contoured at the same time and recovering from the two procedures at the same time is mangeable for most. Insurance does not cover liposuction.
That can be done but it is not necessarily part of the procedure, and you also should not assume that that will be covered by the insurance, to the extent that the procedure itself is. Liposuction is normally not a covered procedure. Either way, you should talk to your plastic surgeon and see what the choices are. Sometimes you can have it done for a small additional fee; sometimes (depending on the extent of the procedure, the surgeon's policies, etc) it may be more involved. I hope that this helps, and good luck, Dr. E
The only way to know if they lumps are fibroadenomas, they would have to be excised. See a breast surgeon first.
Health insurance companies (including BCBS) are required, by federal law, to cover any procedure done to "restore symmetry" after a patient has surgery for treatment of breast cancer. So you should have no trouble getting coverage. All that is left to do is to see a...
In my opinion and experience, the proper way to approach this is to choose the size of the breast to remain after the reduction and then find out how much the tissue weighed at the time of the procedure. This is far from exact but in general, if the breast is reduced to a C cup size it will not...
