I had Fraxel laser done 11 days ago and my skin is still peeling. Is this normal?

I had my fraxel laser done on 16/1 and its now been 11 days post treatment. I still have scabs on my cheeks and forehead that are still peeling. I'm using a gentle cleanser to wash my face and a recovery repair cream that i'm applying 2-3 times a day. Is it normal for healing to take this long?

Fraxel is brand for laser and there are many different Fraxel lasers. It all depends which one was used on your skin and how your skin responds. It may take up to two weeks for some people to have their skin completely heal. Still, scab forming is worrisome therefore I advise you to urgently have a follow up appointment with your provider. If you had the Fraxel Dual or re:store laser, the peeling should be complete by day 5-6. If you have scabs, you should be evaluated for possible infection. Peeling shouldn't last this long. I would discuss with your provider.

There are several Fraxel devices and the more aggressive the device the longer it will take to heal.  You may have had the Fraxel repair which is an ablative CO2 laser.  Continue with your current regimen and see your laser physician.

Some patients take longer to heal than others.  I always bring all of my Fraxel patients back to the office after 2 weeks and I recommend that you follow-up with your treating phsysician.  Best, Dr. Green

It really depends on what Fraxel you had, was it the 1927, 1550 , combination, or the CO2- regardless, things should be healing up by now, especially with good laser after care.
