Will something like Radiesse give me lasting volume if it doesn’t work to stimulate my collagen? Or are Cross linked-HA fillers the only kind of injectables that will give me volume even if my collagen doesn’t get stimulated?

That’s a great question — and an important one to understand before deciding on any injectable treatment. Both fillers and biostimulators can restore facial volume, but they work in different ways.

Cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, such as Juvederm or Restylane, provide immediate volume because the gel itself fills the space beneath the skin. These results are visible right away but gradually fade as the body naturally breaks down the HA over time.

Biostimulators, like Radiesse or Sculptra, work differently — they encourage your body to produce its own collagen for a more gradual, longer-lasting improvement. Even though Radiesse provides some initial volume from its gel carrier, the main benefit comes from the collagen your body builds in response to it.

If your body’s collagen response is limited, HA fillers may give you more predictable and consistent volume. However, if you respond well to collagen stimulation, biostimulators can offer a more natural and longer-lasting effect. It often comes down to your goals, anatomy, and how your skin responds to treatment.

The single best way to restore volume in the face is with fat grafting. Second best option in the face, but it has to be kept away from the upper and lower eyelids is Sculptra. Sculpture is a stimulatory product and it works quite well as I have been using it for well over 25 years. Radiesse , even though some people call it a biostimulatory agent, it is not.
