I’m two weeks post-op. I had my surgery on the 21st of June. I recently started bruising on one of my breast. I purchased Bio oil as my scar treatment. What type of scar treatment does everyone use and is the bruising normal

Dear mrssanders18,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I recommend my patients to start using Biocorneum gel after week 6. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD

the bruising is normal
Usually i start scar reduction protocol at the end of surgery itself, the protocol varies from doctor to doctor
a lot depends on the patients healing ability.ethinicity a predisposition to from good or bad scar 
so i would advice you to follow your treating doctors advice strictly

Hello,
All doctors will have there own recommendations and preferences as to what is the best scar prevention choice. Biocorneum is a good choice to fade scars. It can be used as soon as the incisions are closed, usually around week 5 or 6. Best wishes!

Hello and thank you for your question.  Based on your photos, your bruising looks fairly normal.  With regard to scar treatment, I typically wait three to four weeks before starting any treatment.  If you are concerned, I suggest that you follow up with your surgeon in person.

Hi and Thanks for the question.  As you recover from your procedure, I would recommend that you follow the post-operative incision care instructions from your own surgeon as each Plastic Surgeon has their own protocols and recommendations.  With regards to scar treatments, I usually recommend beginning these 4-6 weeks after surgery as it takes that long for the healing incisions to become scars.  As for particular scar treatment recommendations, I would again refer you to your own Plastic Surgeon as he / she can best guide you throughout your recovery.  Best of Luck!
