Is Silikon 1000 safe to use? Is it a permanent filler?
Answer: When used properly, microdroplet Silikon-1000 has fewer serious problems than HA, in our experience. Silicone oil has a long track record of safety, Precision, permanence, and versatility. Since the size of a silicone molecule is smaller than a red blood cell, serious problems associated with ha fillers like necrosis, embolism, stroke, blindness, and biofilm are never seen when using Silikon-1000 properly. We have been using microdroplet Silikon-1000 as a permanent soft tissue filler for over 24 years, and this has been well received by our patients who are looking for permanent results that are subtle and natural looking. Thank you for your question! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Silikon 1000 Is a Permanent Filler with Significant Long-Term Risks Hello SarahGG, and thank you for your question about the safety and permanence of Silikon 1000. Silikon 1000 is a permanent filler composed of liquid medical-grade silicone, and while it has been used off-label for cosmetic purposes, I do not consider it a safe option for most patients. Its permanence makes it particularly risky, as complications can occur years or even decades after the initial injection. The risks associated with Silikon 1000 include migration, where the filler shifts from the injection site over time, causing lumps, deformities, or asymmetry. It can also lead to scar tissue formation or granulomas, where the body reacts to the silicone as a foreign material, resulting in hard nodules or chronic inflammation. These reactions are unpredictable and can worsen over time. If complications arise, the only solution is surgical removal, which is invasive and may result in scarring or permanent deformities. In areas like the lips or face, removing silicone can require excision of the affected tissue, which may irreversibly alter the shape and contour of the area. While Silikon 1000 might initially provide good results, its long-term risks often outweigh the benefits. If you are considering fillers, temporary options like hyaluronic acid-based fillers (e.g., Juvederm or Restylane) are much safer and allow for adjustments over time. These fillers can also be dissolved if necessary, providing far more flexibility and fewer risks compared to permanent fillers. I hope this helps clarify the safety concerns and long-term implications of Silikon 1000. Please consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist to explore safer, more reliable options for achieving your goals. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD

Answer: Silikon 1000 Is A Permanent Filler & Permanent Fillers Can Translate Into Permanent Complications Silikon 1000 is most certainly a permanent filler. While it is FDA approved, it is approved for use in ophthalmology for the eyeball NOT as a cosmetic filler. Like all permanent fillers, there is a risk for the subsequent development of adverse reactions, like disfiguring nodules and granulomas, that may occur not only immediately following treatment, but as many as five, ten or twenty+ years later, especially when pressure on the treated area (as from manipulation of the skin during dental work, etc.) razzes up the permanent filler and triggers the above problems, which can be very difficult to treat, if at all, since there is no dissolving enzyme to remove it as there is with a natural HA filler. Understandably, for many people, the idea of permanent is enticing. However, no result, even one that goes without complications, is really permanent, since changes in the face, such as loss of volume in fat, muscle and bone, that come with aging can so change the face that what looked fine right after treatment may look downright unnatural five or ten years later necessitating treatment. Hope this helps and best of luck.
