I have a cracked molar, #18 I believe. What is better: to just pull it and be done, or crown with root canal?

a crack tooth will need either extraction or root canal buildup and crown.   Ultimately, what is need is to determine the extent of the crack . If it is not broken below the gum level it can be saved via root canal and crown. For about 1500. If you elect to extract  it, you should get a bone graft at time of extraction.   If you do not bone graft the area your jaw will decrease in height and width and limit your options down the road to place a dental implant.  Extraction bone graft implant about 1800.   Hope that helps 

Hi:Unfortunatley without xrays it is difficult to give you accurate advice.  Generally the majority of fractured teeth need root canal, post build up and crown in order to get restored properly.  If the tooth is pulled, it can effect the opposing tooth and your bite in the future.Best,Dr. Maddahi

It's always best to save your tooth and put a crown on it. You might not even need a root canal.
