I picked skin off prematurely after a VI peel. Is my skin damaged or is it just going to take longer to heal? (Photos)

First let me preface this with - I KNOW BETTER THAN TO PICK!!! I got a VI Peel 4 days ago. On day 3 after a shower, the skin around my nose, left cheek and chin was all soft and mostly detached, so I started rolling the skin off. A few hours later the skin started to burn pretty badly in the areas I peeled. Today all of that skin is extremely tight and wrinkly particularly on my cheek. Also, my chin is peeling again very lightly as you can see in the first picture. Thank you.

The appearance of your skin and the burning sensation are typical of skin that is peeled prematurely. You do not appear to have any hyperpigmentation (darkening) of that area, so you shouldn't expect any poor outcomes. It may take longer to fully heal. Make sure you apply the hydrocortisone cream provided in your after care kit liberally to soothe the irritated areas. It is also normal to peel twice, sometimes 1-2 weeks after the original peel. Make sure you follow up with your provider and address any serious issues to them

Thank you for your question! You did peel your skin prematurely. The good news is that I cannot see any signs of hyperpigmentation on your skin, so your skin should be ok within a few days. It will burn and seem tight until it heals, and it may take longer time for it to completely heal. If you start peeling again, as you described that it is happening with your chin, let it peel at its own pace. It is ok for some patients to peel two times. Best of luck!
