I have wanted to do Emsculpt for quite a while now, but it seems no one will do it for me because of the titanium rod in my leg. I called my surgeon and he said I am able to do MRIs so he doesn’t see why Emsculpt would be an issue. If my rod is by my ankle and I’m treating my rear, what is the big concern?

Answer: Titanium and MRI Titanium it’s not magnetic and so it’s not an issue for an MRI It is however a metal that conducts electricity. An MRI really in that way has nothing to do with Emsculpt they use completely different forms of energy and technology. I personally don’t see why it should be an issue. Sometimes the people who write warning labels take extreme precautions to limit potential liabilities for things that have not yet proven to be an issue. Perhaps the person you were discussing were in sufficiently trained to make a good clinical decision or perhaps there is some underlying reason I am not aware of. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
