I have McGhan breast implants that just passed the 10 year mark in Feb. Just two weeks ago I noticed that my left breast has less volume. Appears I might have a rupture. I am bit confused about the lifetime replacement on the warranty. If I am still eligible for it even if I am past the 10 year mark for financial assistance.
Answer: Does McGhan guarantee lifetime replacement benefits? Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Because McGhan was purchased by Allergan you would need to reach out to them regarding existing warranties. After 10 years they are likely to offer replacements of your implants but unlikely to provide any financial assistance in having them exchanged. Hope this helps.

Answer: Breasts implant warranty Dear S, Sorry for your problem. I use exclusively Mentor products and the company, that is owned by Johnson & Johnson , is giving you life time warranty on the breasts implants, meaning , the ruptured implants is replaced for free for life. I do not know about McGhan , which is owned by Allergan. Most likely they have similar policy. You can call Allergan's customer service and find out about their policy. As far as the cost of surgery, I do not believe that there is any company that covers that cost after 10 years. So, unfortunately, you will have to bear that expense. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice cleavage, perky, symmetrical and natural looking. All the best, Dr Widder

Answer: Warranties are complicated and have changed over the years Warranties are complicated situations as they depend on exactly when the implant was placed as the companies have changed their warranties over the years. McGhan is now Allergan and is an extremely reputable company that stands by their warranty. I have never seen them deny a claim when it is during the time period that they cover. The problem is that the warranty covers financial assistance in the first ten years but not after that. The current 2017 warranty covers the implants forever so it is likely they would give you two implants but not the financial assistance. I would best recommend that you call your plastic surgeon who can call in a potential claim to Allergan, they can look up your serial numbers, and give you exact information. If you are unable to see your surgeon go see another doc for consultation and bring whatever implant info you have with you so they can make this phone call. Best of luck!

Answer: Implant Warranty Hello, Sorry to hear you may have a potential problem. The implant manufacturers are generally very good at supporting patients replacements when truly needed. McGhan is no longer the device (or name) available but Allergan is the manufacturer. Sometimes even when a patient is beyond warranty time there are ways to get assitance. One thing to consider however is they typically only give you the same implant you are removing. If you want a newer device they will likely charge you the difference. It would be best for you to call Allergan directly. They will need to know if you purchased the additional warranty or not. Back 10 years ago additional fees were charged to have surgical fees covered (or partially covered) in addition to the implant replacement. Currently those warranties are included with most, if not all, devices. Good luck!
