Which septoplasty stents are the most well tolerated by patients?

Unfortunately, there are many different kinds of septal splints that are used and various materials are used as well. My preference is to use a thin semi-rigid plastic stent that is flexible and easy to remove. That being said, pain levels can often be diminished if the nose is kept clean without crusts building up and the use of lidocaine spray. I don't think the type of splint affects the long term results, however.

Dear Patient Inquiry, Sorry that you had to go through an uncomfortable post operative experience. Every surgeon has their own techniques with septoplasty. I personally perform many septoplasty procedures weekly and I do not use stints.
