I have a peg lateral on left side and missing right lateral incisor. I am 28 and considering to fix my teeth. My middle teeth have started to overlap a bit. My ortho suggested extraction of peg lateral and closing the space. Then substituting my canines to look like incisors. I read a lot about how canine substitution is not the best treatment here. Could you please advise what I should do?

Hello, Yes, it is not always necessary to polish the edges of teeth. The pointy edges will often round on their own with regular chewing and functioning. Many patients ask us to do a very small amount of polishing of the edge for esthetics.
We can do a "camouflage" treatment where you do not need surgery and it is best done only with orthodontics.Invisalign or Damon System are good options to correct your problem.
This is often called a "cant" meaning your upper jaw is slanted downward on one side. Braces may be able to correct this to a mild extent, but often jaw surgery is needed for ideal correction.
