Hello! Good question… it is hard to say what the best option is for your specific case. In order decide on what the best treatment is for my patients I evaluate the smile, facial profile, occlusion/bite, crowding/spacing, inclination of the incisors, panoramic/cephalometric radiographs, and size and shape of the teeth. In some cases, opening up space and replacing the lateral incisors is the best option and in others canine substitution is best. If you are questioning the treatment plan, I would suggest getting a second opinion with someone who is able to evaluate you in person. Good luck!
