I have pain and cankors in my gums and tongue from the cut nylon sutures after bone graft surgery 4 days ago?

The inside of my mouth and tongue are so sensitive,inflammed and are unable to tolerate the nylon sutures where they have been cut after bone graft surgery 4 days ago. Is it possible to use soft are sutures? And should I use a night guard to cover the area that is so sore. I have cankors in those areas.every time l talk ,eat or move my mouth it hurts where ever the cut sutures are contacting the soft tissue.Would dissolving sutures be adequate for holding the bone marrow in place?

Hi:Sorry to hear about your situation.  At this point your suture can not be replaced.  However, you might want to have your dentist shorten the tips of the suture to create more comfort for you.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Every dentist has different preferences for sutures based on the area the sutures will be placed and type of healing to take place. 
Yes, the do make sutures that are softer and dissolve on their own but, your dentist may have determined that not be best treatment for you. Without having reviewed the site myself, it is difficult to to say. 
As for the canker sores and discomfort, salt water rinses help with healing and to keep the areas clean. I would not recommend wearing a night guard until your sutures are removed. If you are concerned you can always call and set up a post operative appointment with the dentist who performed your surgery and there, address your concerns.
