Which balloon is best?

Question

Im 5'4, currently 225 pounds, 36 yrs old with 2 kids. I am 100% sure the i want to have this procedure done. But i am so confused with the amount of names/types or sizes. i dont know which balloon would be best. Please help me find the right balloon with real results. Thank you

I think the obalon is probably the best one. It only requires one "egd" to retrieve the balloons. The obalon is swallowed first, then inflated. The patient comes two more times for a total of three intra gastric balloons. The other balloons require two upper endoscopies. One to place it and another to remove it. They are all similar in their effectiveness. The balloons are all removed after 6 months.

Both balloons are safe and effective for weight loss.  There have been some preliminary studies that suggest ReShape has less side effects and a decreased percentage of early removal due to intolerance.  I currently offer both balloons and let patients decide which one fits them best.  Hope this helps!

There are many balloons on the market.  The two major companies are Orbera and and ReShape.  The premise behind balloon therapy is portion control and calorie reduction by occupying space in the stomach.  The Orbera is one larger balloon and the ReShape is two smaller balloons.  Each is approved for 6 months with removal at the end of that time period.  I tell my patient to view this 6 months as a time to really evaluate your nutrition and activity plan as patients that make no changes or do not participate in a program while the balloon is in do not experience long term weight loss.  
I offer the balloon to 2 types of patients 1-Patient that are against surgery 2-Patients that have only struggled with weight for a short period of time.
All that to say, there is no difference in outcomes with either balloon.  There is less nausea and less chance of having to have the balloon removed early with ReShape.
