Unknown filler removal? (Photo)

Question

Seven years ago I was injected with an unknown filler. We were told it could be dissolved with another injection but when my mother attempted to remove hers it did not work. I am looking to have this surgically removed but would like to know what are your thoughts.

You must try to find out from the person who treated you which filler was used. There are permanent fillers, such as Artefil and silicone, which are especially difficult to treat because they are foreign substances that have no known enzyme to dissolve them. This is precisely why I do not use thesse fillers, especially since more robust  HAl fillers these days can yield more durable results. There are semipermanent fillers, such as Radiesse whose complications can also be difficult to treat, but genreally less problematic than permanent fillers. And, finally there are natural fillers, like hylauronic acid fillers, that can be dissolved by hyaluronidase if the appropriate concentration, amounts and injection technique is employed. So, just because your mother's filler could not be dissolved does not necessarily mean that proper treatment won't be successful. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Besides posting lip photos of your appearances, you did not specify exact lip areas of the filler injected. Nor did you mention if done by licensed medical provider (MD, DO, NP?). Surgical removal, must be done under ultrasound guided removal. The incision should be intra orally placed. But the results are unpredictable and you might need multiple separate office surgery sessions. Expect fees from $5,000+++. Best to virtual consult with....
