In the process of doing veneers and I had my blood pressure checked and I believe they said it was 159,the dentist asked me if I had high blood pressure and I hadn't been to the doctor and wasn't sure so I said I didn't,so he went on to do the temporary veneers and when I was numbed I felt my heart beating fast but I figured it was just because I was nervous but now that I am going to go back in less than a week to do the permanent veneers I want to know if there's a risk of anything going wrong
Answer: Try no-prep veneers No-prep veneers would be a great option for someone with your medical history. If you choose to have those type of veneers, you won’t have to receive any local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, or even tooth preparation. The entire process is as non-invasive as it gets, and you’ll be able to have brand new veneers without any uncomfortable procedures to raise your blood pressure.

Answer: Getting porcelain veneers with high blood pressure, is there a risk? At 159 systolic blood pressure you are stage II hypertensive. You should see your primary care physician about your high blood pressure. One thing that really helps lower blood pressure when doing dentistry is using conscious sedation. There are some medicines you can take the night before (pills) and then again before your appointment the next morning which will help your blood pressure, reduce anxiety and make the appointment go much smoother. However, before that is done....you must go see your physician because you are stage II hypertensive.I am very sensitive to this matter, as I had a former employee who had high blood pressure, wouldn't see a physician or take medications for it, and she died at the age of 54 with a massive stroke about a month ago.BTW, it is very common for a patient to have a little racing of the heart when the dentist first gives the local anesthesia (novocain). It is usually due to anxiety and your own body releasing some epinephrine.

Answer: You should schedule a consult with your physician to evaluate hypertension You should schedule an annual checkup with your primary care physcian to evaluate your blood pressure. Although there is not an absolute contraindication to veneers with a systolic blood pressure of 159, this is generally not a healthy blood pressure to remain at chronically and can cause cardiovascular issues if it remains elevated long term. Your heart may have felt slightly racey during the veneers due to the epinephrine in the local anesthetic. I recommend scheduling a consult with your primary care physician to evaluate for cardiovascular issues soon.
