I had an epigastric hernia repair under a local anaesthetic that didn't work due to me having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Since the surgery not only have I acquired a large/medium hematoma below and above the incision site I have a very large bulge to the lower right of my abdomen which keeps flaring up causing me pain. Is this normal? I'm yet to go back to the Drs due to my inability to drive yet. Many thanks

Its certainly possible to do these at the same time, but some surgeons would recommend doing so separately as they may be concerned with risk of infection of the mesh
Thanks for posting a photo. I'm not sure how long ago the operation was done and that can have an impact on appearance. In general, it takes about 6 weeks for what we call "full recovery" which means that the wound site is at about 98% of original strength. In reality, it takes about 12 months...
