Can invisalign make more space for a large tongue which may be causing breathing problems?

Probably not. The narrow palate may also accompany a high palatal roof that can cause the nostrils to be shallower and thus reduced breathing when exercising. You may also have inflamed nasal and sinus linings associated with rhinitis.Invisalign can only tip teeth into a wider arc but you are limited by the bone available. As an adult, using expansion devices may not work as your midline palatal suture has ossified.Express your concerns with your dentist, but rest assured the smile may widen with Invisalign however.

 You should express these concerns to the dentist that is treating you. There was a computer simulated demonstration that was created  for your case. It is called a Clincheck. Your dentist should be able to show you this to help alleviate your concerns.  Cases that we have done that have a deep overbite, high palate, and breathing problems at night, are helped by the Invisalign treatment. The arches are widened out  and the  bite is opened up to give the tongue more space. This helps open the airway! 

Hi shaz91,If you are concerned about the treatment plan and whether it is addressing some of your chief concerns, you should bring these concerns up with your treating dentist at the next visit. They should be able to show you an animated video on the computer that shows where your teeth started and where they are proposed to end up, and you should be able to watch the tooth movements your trays are causing.Hope that helps and good luck!
