Hiatus Hernia and breast reconstruction?

I'm having a preventative bilateral mastectomy with immediate implants on the 13th Feb . I'm having implants placed under the muscle with a tissue matrix sling to support the implant A question I forgot to ask was whether my reconstruction will be affected by the fact I have an Hiatus Hernia . It gives me next to no problems and I know it's very common but I have this fear they will cut in to my chest and it will be there angry and protruding and cause problems for me . Am I being unrealistic?

I definitely agree with ultrasound of the breasts in this setting. 5 months is quite a long time to be on antibiotics. Perhaps the remaining skin is just edematous (swollen) and there is no underlying bacterial infection. Follow up with your surgeon and let them know your concerns.

Be sure to keep your surgeon in the loop with this issue.  It appears that you have a fluid collection around the implant.  If that is the case, an aspiration or seroma catheter placement may be indicated.

Dear Chrisinda, Your plastic surgeon knows best, for sure but if there is concern for infection the implants should come out, not be deflated. If they are not infected or exposed, deflation is a great idea, and that area of skin loss might even heal-in better than cutting it out and re-closing...

Looking at the pictures the TE are in place and are inflating the superior portion of the breast and have not expanded the bottom of the breast.  This has allowed the Nipples and areola to be too low, therefore in my opinion you will need to have a lift to raise your nipples.  You have...

Thanks for the question.  Typically it takes 3-4 weeks for the wound to heal completely so that you can swim or enter the sauna.  That said, you should have a checkup with your plastic surgeon before you decide to swim.
