I'm very unhappy with the size of my breasts. I'm post op one week today. I have 610 cc in right axillary under muscle and 560 in left. They're not near as big as I hoped. Is it true they'll increase in size once they drop? And how soon should I expect this "drop" to happen? I'm feeling very depressed this week over this.
Answer: My Breasts Appear Too Small One Week Post Breast Augmentation - Will They Appear Larger With Time? Usually between 5-8 days post operatively, patients go through a depression. I find this true for all types of cosmetic surgery, but even more so with reference to breast augmentations.I believe this is a true chemical depression, post anesthesia, post taking pain pills, putting up with the discomfort due to post operative swelling all of which comes to a crescendo about the 5th or 6th day post surgery.Fortunately, most of us are not used to having surgery after surgery after surgery, therefore this feeling of depression needs to be pinned on something, and the chemicals from anesthesia rarely come to mind as the culprit. If you were hoping for big implants, then the implants are not big enough. If you were hoping that the implants not be too big, then the implants appear to be too big. The good news is that this depression is very time limited, and as long as you have a good support team at home and within the plastic surgeon's office, you will get by this depression quickly. It is not that the implants grow bigger or smaller, but your feeling about your implants will improve as you body chemistry returns to normal.

Answer: I'm post op 1 wk, 610 cc in right axillary under muscle & 560 in left. Will they increase in size once they drop? Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure; based on your photographs, it seems like your plastic surgeon has done a very nice job for you. It may be helpful for you to know that it is not unusual for patients to feel that they are “too small” or “too big”, early on after breast augmentation surgery. Most patients who feel this way ultimately are pleased with the results of surgery. Yes, in my experience, many patients who feel that they are too small immediately after surgery find, as the breast implants “drop and fluff”, that the breasts actually appear larger to them. I routinely ask my patients to wait at least 3-6 months before evaluating the end results of the breast augmentation surgery. This waiting time allows patients to (uaually) physically and psychologically adapt to the new body image. There are both physiological and “psychological” reasons to wait on having revisionary surgery. From the physiological standpoint, it takes many months ( and even up to one year) to see the final results of surgery. factors such as swelling, tissue contraction, skin redraping, implant shifting etc. come into play. From the psychological standpoint, patients undergo an “adaptation period" during which time they get used to the changes that the surgical procedure has brought about. Severe emotional swings can also occur after any type of surgical procedure.
Obviously, it is best for patients not to be making important decisions ( for example about the results of surgery and/or the need for additional surgery) while they are experiencing these emotional “ups and downs”.I hope this helps.

Answer: Implants settle but do not increase in size and your results look very good at this point. You even look a little top heavy on your photos. What look did you have in mind when you signed up for this? Work on healing from this and getting the absolute best results you can. By that time that happens, you may be more accepting of your very generous size and avoid more surgery and costs.

Answer: BBA They will likely drop more but the size will not change. Having said that, you may be happier with the apparent size once things settle and drop. Speak with your plastic surgeon.

Answer: I'm post op 1 wk, 610 cc in right axillary under muscle & 560 in left. Will they increase in size once they drop? Appears as an excellent excellent early result. Yes dropping in to pocket can help. But there will be no increase in size...
