Is it necessary to use steroid injections or is it possible to allow time to heal swelling?

Hello, I am exactly 6 months post-op and I do see swelling all around the tip (round, almost bulbous) of my nose and ends right before it reaches the supratip break area. If I choose not to utilize any steroid injections will time itself reduce the swelling in the same way the injection would have done faster? Or would end result be different vs injection.

Steroid injections are mostly recommended and needed after a rhinoplasty on a thick skinned nose. It’s usually done after 1st, 2nd and 3rd month. Sometimes it’s enough to get only one injection. But it’s not a rule, and it can also be done even after a year.

It is my opinion that time alone will dramatically improve the results of rhinoplasties with prolonged swelling. The steroid injections just speed things up typically but some surgeons will get aggressive with the steroids in hope that the skin will thin out making your results more pronounced or defined. The steroid shots are typically very uncomfortable so best to try to avoid.
