Retin-A causing darkening of skin. Is there anything I can do to exfoliate and fade these marks? (Photo)

Did you have recent sun exposure?
are you using sunblock?
This pigmentation is unusual with Retin A but possible if the skin is exfoliated and then exposed to the sun.
I would stop the Retin A immediately, start using prescription hydroquinone( needs to be prescribed by a dermatologist), and wear an SPF of at least 30 every 2 hours
It could upto 8 weeks to resolve.

Thank you for your question and photograph. If the dark spots appeared after starting Retin-A, then I recommend stopping the treatment at this time. A common side effect of Retin-A is redness, irritation, peeling, dryness, etc., and if severe reactions occur, then dark spots can appear. There are various treatment options to lighten dark spots, but your skin needs to evaluated prior to therapy.
