Answer: If you are a male with genetic androgenic alopecia, you will never lose hair on the back of your head (the donor area). If you are a male with genetic androgenic alopecia, you will never lose hair on the back of your head (the donor area). This is the principal behind hair transplant surgery and the "donor dominance" theory. That if you move the hair from one area where hair is likely permanent, it will behave that way when it has been harvested and transplanted. This permanance does not hold true for women. Women don't necessarily have a permanent donor area.

Answer: Relative permanence
The hair that is transplanted up front is as permanent as the donor hair, which is based on the donor dominance concept. The majority of the hair at the back of your scalp will not shed over time. When it is transplanted up front, It will maintain this same relative permanence.

Answer: Permanent hair restoration? Hi. You are right that DHT could be affecting your hair around your forehead, but it's much less likely to affect hairs from the back of the head. Hair growing in this area tends to be much stronger and resistant to factors such as genetics and environmental influence. These are the hair follicles that are typically used in today's hair transplant procedures. Since they are actually moved to the areas where your hair is thinning, you should experience long-term hair replacement. If you have an advanced transplant procedure such as NeoGraft® performed by an experienced, qualified surgeon, most of your transplanted follicles should hold tight.
