Is it okay to put a heating pad on my breast 3 weeks after breast of augmentation?

Is it okay or would it help to put a heating pad on my breast? I’m getting a lot of shooting pains. I’m 3 weeks post breast lift and implant.

Dear DenieDV,heating pads can increase vasodilation of blood vessels and increased blood flow. Every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD

You can certainly use a heating pad but must make sure it will not burn you since your skin sensation may not be normal... and that you won't fall asleep with it on as it could lead to burns.  So yes you can, but be careful about it.

Hello and thank you for your question.For my patients, I do not recommend using a heating pad on the breast area after breast augmentation. The temporary relief can cause unseen damage. Many times, burning under the skin can occur, without visibly seeing the signs at first. I would recommend following up with your plastic surgeon regarding your question.
