Tazorac and retin-a are both members of the retinoid family (vitamin A derivatives). Tazorac is a very strong synthetic form, and Retin-a is a mid-potency retinoid, so many of my younger patients tolerate the less-strong retinoids better. I find that for people who don't want to use something every night due to time issues or just being too busy, Tazorac can be helpful just a few times a week. Also, after treating skin cancers or precancerous lesions, the retinoids can help keep the skin healthy and turning over properly. If you live in a humid area, Tazorac may be tolerated well, but it is difficult to use in a dry climate. Either can be useful in acne treatment or general help with sun damage and fine lines and wrinkles.Hope this helps!
Yes, they are both classed as retinoids, however they work on different receptors. The initial studies on wrinkles were published with first generation retinoids, Tazorac or tazoretene is the latest generation retinoid. I am not aware of any split face clinical studies to show which if more effective. I tell my patients to mix both Retin A and Tazorac, use one to twice a week, and increase as tolerated. This is NOT evidence based, but my theory on receptors only. All the bestDR Davin Lim Laser dermatologist
No reason to do so, Duac and Tazarac are skin directed topical, ie. Creams. Fillers do not affect these creams as it is placed in the deeper layersDr Davin Lim
Tazorac is a good option for comedonal acne such as blackhead & whiteheads, and may help modestly with cystic acne. Best to see your dermatologist for proper treatment, which will usually involve some pills, such as antibiotics, oral contraceptives, and/or isotretinoin. Photodynamic therapy is...
Both are good products, but both can cause some irritation, especially at the beginning while your skin is getting used to the product. My preference would be to use azelaic acid in the morning, and tazorac at night.
Unfortunately there is nothing over the counter that matches the efficacy of Tazorac. Tazorac is the name brand of a prescription retinoid. Retinoids are a derivative of Vitamin A that have proven to benefit skin in such ways as clearing pores, boosting collagen, and increasing cell turnover....
Tazorac can dry out the sebum and make your skin peel. In our clinic, we advise patients to use the Elevase Moisture Booster ceramide cream to help alleviate the dryness and moisturize the skin. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Tazorac has the ability to dry and peel in patients with sensitive skin. In fact I have been using this as part of my own 'anti wrinkle' regime for the past 10 years. I can only tolerate it twice a week at most. Some times only once a week. I moisturise before, then apply Tazorac.I tell all my...
