Tattoo Removal: Is this residual ink treatable? (Photo)

Question

I've had 10 treatments using the MedLite 6 laser. Unfortunately the tattoo didn't respond to the last treatment. I believe the brown spots are residual ink. Can this be removed? I'm thinking of trying a session with the Picosure laser.

There are cases in which Q-switched lasers reach their maximal effectiveness in fading a tattoo which then can be improved with PicoSure laser technology. There can be the need for several treatments with the PicoSure laser and depending on some patients' tattoos, the size may make it prudent to do a test spot first with the PicoSure laser to see if it reduced the pigment. Subsequent PicoSure laser treatments can be done with decreasing the spot size of the laser diameter increasing the the energy. From the photograph you posted, its hard to tell whether we're seeing residual ink or just pigment changes in your skin that are likely temporary. I recommend giving this tattoo (and yourself) a rest and take stock of the situation in 8 or 10 months. A lot of change can happen in that time, and you might save yourself some money in the process.
