Do I need to replace a temporary filling after a root canal done through a permanent crown porcelain banded to metal)

The treatment has been very successful (2 weeks ago). The endodontis put a temporary filling. Does this filling need to be replaced with a permanent filling, if so, how long can I wait? Or, do I need a new crown (even though, my current one was not damaged), how long can I wait? What is the approximate cost of a permanent filling vs. a new crown?" I Live in Toronto. Thank you!
