Is the R20 method a safe and effective way to remove tattoos?

you do not need the r20 method if you use the PFD patch. r20 is significantly better than just single ttreatment. you need to pre and post treat the tattoo as-well. Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello, thank you for your question. The R20 method was developed for using the Q-Switch devices. Back when all we had was the Q-switch technology, we did do the R20 method. Basically treating the ink 4 times in a row with 20 minutes in-between each pass in order to let the white gas bubbles under the skin dissipate so that the ink can be seen. It was an option that usually yielded fewer treatents total. The latest technology in tattoo removal is the Pico technology. The PicoWay Laser (Candela/Syneron) uses photoacoustic impact/pressure waves rather than photothermal/heat. This process has less heat, therefore it is more comfortable and the chances of hyperpigmentation are less. The Pico-second pulse shatters the ink into even smaller particles, allowing the body to more easily absorb the ink. This type of device can usually remove unwanted ink in about half as many treatments as the traditional Q-switch devices.
