This is not what I would expect to happen. Almost everyone's pain diminishes markedly after splint removal. You should have your doctor take a look to make sure you dont have an infection or some other explanation for your pain just to make sure you aren't missing something important.

Dear tjenkins87, I would suggest seeing your surgeon for a follow up examination. You can cause a deviation to the septum with trauma as you describe so an in office intra-nasal evaluation would provide a diagnosis. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
