It depends on your age and the position of those teeth. If you are a teenager and those teeth are just starting to come in, give them some time and they will fully come in. If you are an adult and your teeth have been sitting like that for quite some time, there is probably not enough room for them. In order to bring them in, enough room needs to be created for them. You need to be seen by an orthodontist first to decide what your best treatment method is. The treatment options vary from taking out some teeth to broadening your arch form to create room for the teeth that have not fully come in. Deciding between those options depends on many factors and will be determined after a full set of x-rays and photos of your teeth and face. Your orthodontist will determine that after obtaining all those records. If the tooth is exposed by a surgeon and you are already in braces and are wondering how long it takes for that tooth to fully come in, it depends on where the tooth is. If it is in the roof of your mouth (your palate), it might take a few months. Depending on where the tooth is, your age, how much room is available for that tooth and many other factors, the rate of tooth movement will be different. Best of luck!Dr Sepi
It depends. If there is sufficient space for the "vampire teeth" then it doesn't take long at all (a few weeks). However, the only reason you ever had "vampire teeth" is because there was not sufficient space to accommodate the eruption of these canine teeth in a normal path of eruption. Instead, they erupted up high and forward of the rest of your teeth which makes them look like fangs. There are four ways of creating sufficient space for eruption of these canine teeth. 1) Extract bicuspid teeth, 2) Slenderize multiple teeth, 3) Overly splay your front teeth, 4) Make your dental arch bigger. The four ways are listed in order of worst to best alternatives in MOST cases. All of your options, except #3, need to occur BEFORE any braces are placed.Good luck!
Braces will have minor effects on facial asymmetry. What will have a much more dramatic effect is arch development utilizing orthopedic appliances. Good luck!
Since braces are about creating great smiles, orthodontists are very good at incorporating temporary tooth shaped (usually individual denture teeth matched to your shade) fillers to fill in gaps where teeth have been previously lost to trauma or other reason. This keeps the smile looking good w...
