Keloid and hypertrophic scars usually go through a stage of active inflammation. This process can be modulated to prevent bad scarring. In my office, we specialize in scarring formed by keloids and hypertrophic scars. Our approach is combination therapy, known as HIDEf treatment, which incorporates lasers, laser assisted delivery of corticosteroids, vascular therapy, and resurfacing. This can help reduce inflammation and scarring alongside the application of scar gels including Plato’s Scar Serum and Melarase PM. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
Dear Magical3271,I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and lighten. Loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation may also be experienced but will resolve over time. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care instructions when it comes to scar management to avoid any complications like infection and for faster healing and recovery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

I would begin with application of Luminase and Exfolase creams to lighten the pigmentary framing, followed by laser and Melapeel application to reduce discoloration. The deep pit may require TCA cross as long as you don't have any active infection. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon
