I'm 6 weeks post op from an open septorhinoplasty. When I smile or yawn it feels like something is ripping/pulling inside my right nostril. I thought this would be gone by now (I don't recall it during my original rhinoplasty). It's quite painful and I'm worried I'm ruining something in my nose. Is this normal at this stage post op?

You should be able to return to work in the time frame you give. Different patients have varying degrees of swelling following rhinoplasty. Several of the photos on my web site were taken only two weeks after surgery.
There is no doubt about it, different cameras in different lights make the nose and face look completely different. Studio photography looks very different to a selfie taken on a iPhone. Shadows can highlight different convexities and concavities that are not visible with balanced studio...
